L.A. Controller Congratulates Moore as next LAPD Chief

Los AngelesL.A. Controller Ron Galperin today released the following statement on Mayor Eric Garcetti’s selection of First Assistant Chief Michel Moore as the next Los Angeles Police Department Chief of Police:

“I congratulate First Assistant Chief Michel Moore as he prepares to be the next LAPD Chief of Police. Throughout his career, Chief Moore has made communities safer through smarter policing and strategies that bring people together. The men and women of the LAPD are some of the finest police officers in the nation and they’ve been led with distinction by Chief Charlie Beck. While Chief Beck has made immense strides in making the Department stronger than he found it, I know that Chief Moore’s 35 years in the LAPD prepares him to lead from day one. I look forward to working with him to ensure the LAPD operates with a high degree of accountability and transparency for all Angelenos.”
