A More Accessible Los Angeles: Reviewing the Department on Disability

Established in 1998, the Department on Disability facilitates and supports other City Departments by expanding access and ensuring City compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Based on U.S. Census data, approximately 240,000 Angelenos under the age of 65 have a disability. L.A. Controller Galperin’s audit provides recommendations to enhance the Department’s effectiveness and improve the City’s compliance with disability laws.
